DOGWORLD v1.40 Quick Install
New Installation:
Unzip the DogWorld archive into an empty directory by running the batch
file - "UNPACK.BAT". You will need to have a copy of Pkunzip somewhere
on your path for the batch file to work. The file DWORLD1B.RES is a
normal zip archive.
Run DOGEDIT.EXE. If you are running multinode, you should have share.exe
(or equivalent) installed.
Setup your bbs nodes and starting game settings inside DogEdit.
** IMPORTANT NOTE TO LANTASTIC USERS!! **
If you run Lantastic you should also run the batch file: DO-LAN.BAT
so that the main DogWorld files are marked as read-only. This is very
important!!
Upgrading from a previous version:
Run the batch file NO-LAN.BAT to turn off the read-only attribute
on the main DogWorld files.
If your version of DogWorld has been registered and you have made
changes to the Enemy/Weapon/Armor data files, you will probably want to
backup the files ARMOR.DAT, WEAPON.DAT, and ENEMY.DAT before unzipping
and then restore those files after unzipping.
Unzip the DogWorld archive inside your existing directory by running
the file - UNPACK.BAT. The batch file will unzip DogWorld and will
preserve all your old settings, players, one-liner dialog and news.
Run DOGEDIT.EXE and turn on "multinode" support if you are running on
a network. (share or equivalent must be installed for multinode support)
Run the batch file - DO-LAN.BAT.
** IMPORTANT NOTE TO RIP 2.x USERS **
I finally figured out what was wrong with the full-screen backgrounds
and corrected the problem. RipTerm 2.x will now convert the regular
.ICN's in the file DOGICONS.ZIP into .BMP's that will automatically
resize to whatever screen resolution you're running.
If you have any problems setting up you can contact me in the
